About the coasters in multiplayer

Recommended Posts

From memory, two reasons:

  1. The track needs to be send to the server so that it can be built there.
  2. The preview in the track window generates a new map, and a new track, which causes desyncs and possibly crashes. Say someone were to build a new ride while you have the preview window open, then both the new ride and the ride in the preview window will have the same ride ID.

I might be completely wrong here, I've never touched these parts in the code myself. I'm only repeating what I've heard.

Still don't think this should be fixed, I would rather not have people spawning in a Mr. Bones "Take the entire map" ride any chance they get.

Yeah, it would be very disastrous for multiplayer servers with strangers, but I think just with friends on a LAN for example it would be quite handy.

Guys, I am sorry for posting on a old topic. New to the forums, new to OpenRCT2, I really tried to find any updated information on this, and I honestly could not. Is this going to be fixed or not at this point? Any updates? The game kinda felt empty to me tbh, I am use to seeing that I guess after all these years (pre-built rides)  Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else.

It was actually being worked on in May and early June, but it is a lot more complicated than the average user would expect.
